Minolta DSLR cameras. Worth the money for used now? Or upgrade to Sony Alpha?
I have a bag of old Minolta 35mm lenses that my aunt gave me, and am still looking for a good camera to attach them to. I would rather have a camera that comes without lenses, as this bag has all the lenses i’d normally need. I believe them to all be autofocus, as they’re relatively new as far as 35mm lenses go… I know that they’ll fit the Minolta DSLR cameras, as well as most if not all of the Sony Alpha series of cameras, so I don’t need to know that its one of those I’m going to need to buy. What I want to know specifically is: Is it worth the extra money to get a Sony Alpha? Or would I be ok with one of the last Minolta DSLR cameras? Also, does anyone have any recommendations of a place to buy one of those without a lens? Besides tigerdirect, adorama, or ebay? Unless anyone has one personally that they’re willing to part with? Thanks in advance
If you can find the Minolta 7D at a decent price, the answer is yes. Not so much on the 5D.
You can probably find the Sony A100 out there cheap, like $200. I saw an A200 on the local craig’s list for $300 with (18-70) kit lens and bag.
If your lenses are indeed MA mount, they will work on the Alpha line.
