What’s the Difference Between Real and Faux Leather Bed Frames?}
Made from animal, usually cattle rawhide, leather is a unique material, at once soft and silky yet with a rich, rugged quality that’s very difficult to imitate. Full-grain leather, of which all quality genuine leather beds are made, preserves the durability and strength of the hide; this quality can be felt along the entire bed, from head to foot. Faux leather fabric is in fact a combination of various artificial fibers or plastics, and this is evident to the touch. The faux leather be will feel different when you move your hand from one end to the other because the fabric is from different materials.
Genuine leather also has a distinct, but rich smell. There are a variety of ways to tan leather, from vegetable tanning to brain tanning, but somehow the leather never loses that aroma. Faux leather, made from plastics and synthetics, possesses no direct smell. Without having to feel the fabric, anyone very familiar with leather will be able to identify the difference between the genuine and faux variety by the scent.
A poorly manufactured imitation leather bed could fade or crack up. This may look unattractive or interfere with your sleep. Quality faux letter is not only more affordable than genuine leather, but it usually lasts longer and is more comfortable. For a couple of hundred pounds you can pick up a decent imitation leather bed. Still, even the most well-made faux leather beds can’t replicate the sensation of the genuine leather. The price of a double luxury genuine leather bed is close to 800, almost twice that of one made of faux leather.
Some cost-effective genuine leather beds are not created from custom leather. These and faux leather beds are normally known to be available at similar price. If you’re deciding between high end fake leather, or cheaper genuine leather, the true leather is still probably a better choice. Animal safety could be a deciding factor in choosing faux leather over the genuine leather. As it is designed form plastics, faux leather does not contain any animal hide. You may have heard PETA and other activists campaign for using “pleather” rather than animal hides.
